The Word Bearers stand as the first and most fervent of the Traitor Legions to embrace the Chaos Gods, having turned from the Emperor's light during the Horus Heresy under the guidance of their Primarch, Lorgar Aurelian. Unlike other traitor legions that sought power or conquest for their own sake, the Word Bearers view their rebellion as a sacred crusade, believing that the gods of Chaos are the true masters of the universe and that worship is the only path to salvation.
